• A Summer’s Day, 1905, Peder Mørk Mønsted

One of my favourite artists of all time - Peder Mønk Mønsted. Little know about comparatively speaking, but nevertheless a producer of the most outstanding realism in fine art I’ve ever seen, and I would argue, someone who is no less deserving of the rich accolades of his contemporaries.

Mønsted was way ahead of his time and could certainly be considered one of the true fathers of Matte Painting. I would urge any student of the art of Matte Painting to study Peder Mønk Mønsted avidly in order the gain a lasting appreciation and understanding of what the reproduction of true realism really means.
